Please review these Terms of Service carefully before booking a free trial class or enrolling in our tutoring programs. By accessing our website, requesting a Free Academic Readiness Check, or scheduling sessions, you agree to comply with and be bound by these terms.
1 Acceptance of Terms & Eligibility
These Terms of Service constitute a legally binding agreement between you (the parent, legal guardian, or adult student) and The Academus. If you are registering on behalf of a minor student (under 18 years of age), you represent and warrant that you are their parent or legal guardian and accept full responsibility for compliance with these terms.
2 Academic Tutoring Services
The Academus delivers customized 1-on-1 virtual academic tutoring across international and regional curricula:
- Curricula Supported: Cambridge International (Primary, Lower Secondary, O Level, A Level), Pearson Edexcel, Oxford AQA, IGCSE, Junior Classes, and Quran & Tajweed.
- Lesson Delivery: All tutoring takes place in secure 1-on-1 online classrooms with audio, video, screen sharing, and collaborative digital whiteboards.
- Tutor Assignment: Students are matched with vetted subject specialists based on diagnostic readiness, target syllabus, and scheduling preferences.
3 Free Readiness Check & Demo Class Terms
To introduce new families to our methodology, we provide a Free Academic Readiness Check and trial class:
Trial Limits
Each new student is eligible for one complimentary demo class per subject area, subject to tutor schedule availability.
No Obligation
Trial classes and readiness assessments carry no mandatory long-term commitment or automatic credit card billing.
4 Scheduling, Attendance & Rescheduling Policy
Structured consistency is essential for grade improvement:
- Rescheduling Notice: Lessons may be rescheduled without penalty provided notice is submitted via WhatsApp or email at least 12 hours prior to the scheduled start time.
- Late Cancellations & No-Shows: Lessons canceled with less than 12 hours' notice or where a student fails to enter the classroom within 15 minutes of lesson start may be deducted from the prepaid lesson package.
- Tutor Unavailability: If a tutor is incapacitated due to illness or emergency, The Academus will notify the family promptly to reschedule or arrange a qualified substitute educator upon approval.
5 Tuition Fees, Payments & Tutor Fit Guarantee
Tuition fees are structured in transparent monthly or multi-hour packages:
- Prepayment: Lesson packages must be paid in advance of scheduled sessions.
- Tutor-Match Satisfaction Guarantee: If a student or parent feels that a tutor’s teaching style does not suit their learning needs after the first regular lesson, we will rematch the student with another educator at no additional cost.
- Refund Requests: Unused lesson hours from active packages may be refunded or credited on a prorated basis subject to administrative review.
6 Student Code of Conduct & Safeguarding Policy
Child Safeguarding Commitment
The Academus enforces a zero-tolerance policy against any form of harassment, discrimination, inappropriate communication, or abusive behavior in all classroom interactions.
- Classroom Environment: Students must maintain an appropriate study setting, suitable attire, and respectful conduct during video sessions.
- Recording & Streaming: The Academus may record sessions as described in our Privacy Policy, for academic review, quality assurance, and safeguarding purposes. Outside of this official process, neither tutors nor students may independently record, stream, or redistribute classroom audio/video without explicit prior written authorization from both the parent and academy administration.
- Parent Observation: Parents and legal guardians possess an unconditional right to monitor lessons from the background at any time.
- Immediate Suspension: The Academus reserves the right to immediately terminate a session and revoke enrollment without refund if a participant engages in unsafe, threatening, or illegal conduct.
7 Intellectual Property Rights
All original curriculum roadmaps, worksheets, proprietary diagnostic checks, notes, website design elements, and logos created by The Academus are protected by intellectual property laws. Materials supplied to students are licensed solely for the student’s personal non-commercial educational use.
8 Academic Performance Disclaimer
While our tutors employ proven pedagogical methods, structured mastery plans, and past-paper techniques, academic grades ultimately depend on independent student effort, study habits, classroom attendance, and school/examination board criteria. The Academus does not guarantee specific numerical exam results or university placements.
